The New mid-specification variant for the Compass petrol gets
features such as 17-inch alloys, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment with
Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, climate control and more
Jeep has silently introduced a
new mid-specification variant for the petrol-powered Compass, the Longitude
(O), priced at Rs 18.90 lakh. While
this variant was previously available with the diesel engine, the petrol
Compass was only available in the base Sport, higher-spec Limited and Limited
(O) and top-spec Limited Plus trims.
The Costing
of this vehicle is about Rs 3.5 lakh more than the base Compass Sport, the
Longitude (O) variant comes with features such as;
1) 17-inch alloy wheels
2) Roof rails
3) Halogen projector headlamps
4) Front and rear fog lamps
5) Power folding and adjustable
wing mirrors
6) Push-button start
7) 7.0-inch touchscreen
infotainment system with Android Auto
and Apple CarPlay compatibility and an
automatic climate
control system.
SAFETY
Safety kit is the same as the lower variant, with dual front
airbags, ABS with EBD, stability control, traction control and four-wheel disc
brakes coming as standard.
Lack of technology
Compared to the higher Limited
variant, the Compass Longitude (O) misses out on features such as LED
tail-lamps, leather seats and steering, an optional dual-tone exterior finish
and bi-xenon HID headlamps.
Specifications
Mechanically,
the Compass Longitude (O) is the same as the other petrol-powered variants – a
1.4-litre turbo-petrol unit producing 163hp and 250Nm of torque mated to a
7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that powers the front wheels.
Jeep also offers the Compass with
a 173hp, 2.0-litre diesel engine mated to a 6-speed manual, which is available
in 10 variants.
A rival
to the Hyundai Tucson, the upcoming Tata Harrier and the soon-to-arrive MG
Hector, the Compass range is now priced between Rs 15.40 lakh and Rs 22.90
lakh. Jeep is planning to introduce the Compass Trailhawk in the country
sometime soon.
It’ll debut the diesel-automatic
combination for the Compass in India and come with a more off-road focused
setup.
